Every lender from Latitude to Commonwealth Bank has declined me for a credit card. Do you know if this is always the case for a poor credit rating and what can I do to make them see past it?

      Hi John,

Thank you for getting in touch with Finder.

Sorry to hear about your declined application.

Yes, credit card providers check the applicant’s creditworthiness via a credit report. You may learn more about the other reasons for rejected credit card applications. I suggest that you build your credit score first before applying for a credit card. In the meantime, you may check the other products available for bad credit.

      I hope this helps.

Thank you and have a wonderful day!

      Cheers,
      Jeni

My Visa Mecu credit card was retained by the Westpac ATM when I used an incorrect PIN.
I have already reported this by telephone to MECU, and I now need to have another card issued.
Is their a shorter process for getting a replacement card given that I’ve had one in the past. The lost card was due to expire this month.
Also, we do have access to internet banking with MECU.
    Thanks
    Will

Hi Will, thanks for your inquiry!

Replacement cards will be replaced within 5 working days in Australia. If you are overseas, VISA International can organise a replacement card, however it will cost US$175 and will not be issued with a PIN.

      Cheers,

      Jonathan

      Hi Stuart,

      Thanks for your question.

Although we cover a wide range of products, issuers and services we don’t cover every product, issuer or service available in the market so there may be other options available to you.

      Hi Briget,

      Thanks for your question.

We cannot provide financial advice but we have an article on steps to reducing $50k debt.

Bankmecu may be able to assist, as your cards are Citibank and Bankwest. If you would like more information on balance transfers and compare options to see what may work for you.
