Anytime I switch energy plans, I look out for energy deals while searching for the cheapest plan. When I switched to AGL, it was one of the cheapest options for both electricity and gas for my postcode and it was offering sign-up credits which would help lower my bills even further. The main thing I've learnt is that a provider may be offering a good deal but it won't save you money overall if its plan prices aren't one of the cheapest around.

Frequently asked questions
The process for switching energy providers typically involves finding a new provider and signing up for a new plan. You may need to provide some personal information and details about your energy usage. Once you have signed up with the new provider, they will take care of the process of transferring your service. It is generally a straightforward process and should not disrupt your energy service.
In some cases, there may be fees associated with switching energy providers. These fees could include charges for breaking a contract with your current provider or for transferring your service to the new provider. It is important to carefully review any contract terms and fees before switching providers to ensure that you understand the full costs of the switch.
There are several factors to consider when comparing energy plans and providers, including the price of the plan, the terms of the contract, any fees or charges, and the level of customer service offered. You can compare plans and providers by using online comparison tools or by contacting providers directly to request information about their plans. It is a good idea to compare several different options to ensure that you find the best plan for your needs and budget.
In some cases, it may be possible to switch energy providers even if you are on a fixed-term contract. However, you may be required to pay a fee to break the contract early, so it is important to carefully review the terms of your contract before switching. If you are unable to switch providers due to a fixed-term contract, you may still be able to negotiate a better deal with your current provider.

Important information about this website
finder.com.au is one of Australia's leading comparison websites. We are committed to our readers and stands by our editorial principles
We try to take an open and transparent approach and provide a broad-based comparison service. However, you should be aware that while we are an independently owned service, our comparison service does not include all providers or all products available in the market.
Some product issuers may provide products or offer services through multiple brands, associated companies or different labeling arrangements. This can make it difficult for consumers to compare alternatives or identify the companies behind the products. However, we aim to provide information to enable consumers to understand these issues.
We make money by featuring products on our site. Compensation received from the providers featured on our site can influence which products we write about as well as where and how products appear on our page, but the order or placement of these products does not influence our assessment or opinions of them, nor is it an endorsement or recommendation for them.
Products marked as 'Top Pick', 'Promoted' or 'Advertisement' are prominently displayed either as a result of a commercial advertising arrangement or to highlight a particular product, provider or feature. Finder may receive remuneration from the Provider if you click on the related link, purchase or enquire about the product. Finder's decision to show a 'promoted' product is neither a recommendation that the product is appropriate for you nor an indication that the product is the best in its category. We encourage you to use the tools and information we provide to compare your options.
Where our site links to particular products or displays 'Go to site' buttons, we may receive a commission, referral fee or payment when you click on those buttons or apply for a product. You can learn more about how we make money.
When products are grouped in a table or list, the order in which they are initially sorted may be influenced by a range of factors including price, fees and discounts; commercial partnerships; product features; and brand popularity. We provide tools so you can sort and filter these lists to highlight features that matter to you.

If you're unsure about anything, seek professional advice before you apply for any product or commit to any plan and read any disclosure documents (such as any Target Market Determination (TMD) and/or Product Disclosure Statement (PDS)) issued by the provider before making a decision.
Providing or obtaining an estimated insurance quote through us does not guarantee you can get the insurance. Acceptance by insurance companies is based on things like occupation, health and lifestyle.
