Yes, you may be able to refinance your home loan to consolidate your credit card debt but it could cost you more interest over time. Finder’s guide to debt consolidation through a home loan has more details and insights that may be helpful. Other debt consolidation options you can consider include personal loans and balance transfer credit cards. I hope this helps.

It says you can only transfer 80% of your BT. Does this mean if my BT transfer was $15K, I’d only be approved for 80% of that BT?

Hi AJ, this means if your new card limit is $15k, you can only transfer 80% of that value ($12,000) as a BT. If you wish to transfer $15k, you would need a credit card limit of around $19,000 or more in order to transfer $15k across.

Hope this helps!

My husband and I have separate cards can we apply for a joint card and transfer both balances across to the new card

Hi Jenni,

Unfortunately, St.George does not offer joint credit card accounts. Balance transfers typically need to be from accounts that are under the same name as the primary cardholder, but it could be worth calling St.George on 13 33 30 to ask if you could transfer both balances to a new card in one of your names. Alternatively, you can compare other debt consolidation options that offer the flexibility to pay off credit cards and other debts held under different names. I hope that helps.

Hi Gabby,

Credit cards don’t typically allow you to transfer money to a bank account. If you want to borrow money that you can transfer, getting a personal loan is one option you could consider. I hope that helps.

Thanks for contacting Finder.

Some of the coverage offered by the St.George complimentary travel insurance is medical and hospital, loss, and damage of personal property, and cancellation of travel expenses.

I hope this helps.
